The Authorities and Bibliographic Metadata Librarian brings focus and care to our authority and broader bibliographic metadata efforts, ensuring equity and quality are guiding factors in our metadata practices.

William C. (Hank) Young, MSLS
Hank came from a public services background, but has been cataloging in academic, public, military, and corporate libraries since 1986. Hank began working for UF in 2002 and was the head of the Serials Cataloging Unit from 2016 until 2022. He has a BS in Chemistry and General Mathematics from Berry College and an M.S. in Library Science (MSLS) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His areas of expertise are the STEM fields. He primarily focuses on cataloging special projects for UF, FLARE, and Digital Support Services. He contributes to many statewide and international cataloging programs, coordinates UF's Cataloging for the PCC (BIBCO/CONSER) work. In addition to serving on many Statewide Cataloging Subcommittees and Task Forces, he is currently serving a 3-year term as a member of the PCC Standing Committee for Standards.
