The University of Florida Libraries provide access to thousands of streaming video titles. Academic Video Online (AVON), Kanopy, and Swank are our primary providers for streaming films.  See the links below for access to subscribed titles, and search Primo for access to many other individual titles (we are working to provide coverage dates in Primo).  You can also find our streaming video guide on our website here.

Academic Video Online (AVON) More than 80,000 video titles covering a range of subject areas including anthropology, business, counseling, film, health, history, music, and more.

• Coverage – The library has immediate access to all the films in the platform.

• Public Performance Rights – “Films available in AVON include limited public performance rights, which include permission for classroom showings, as well as public screenings, as long as no admission is being charged.*”

Kanopy Due to high costs, Kanopy has changed to a mediated model where acquisition of films will be restricted to faculty and course related requests.  

• Coverage – The library will have access only to licensed films until license expires. Films are licensed for one year.  Perpetual licenses in Kanopy after purchasing more than 8 times.

• Public Performance Rights (PPR) – Many Kanopy films have public performance rights and will have the PPR logo.

Swank Provides access to feature films and documentaries.

• Coverage – The library recently subscribed to the TOP 1000 Collection. These films have been selected based on what faculty/schools are selecting the most from the database.  This list will change each year.  

• Public Performance Rights – Swank Digital Campus films do not have public performance rights as they are intended for course use only.

Digital Theatre Plus Provides access to unique films of current, leading British theater productions.

Digitalia Film Library A multilingual, multi-national collection of films from Spain, France, other European and eastern European countries, North America, and Latin America, including Mexico, Argentina, and Brazil.

JoVE (Journal of Visualized Experiments) Provides access to video articles in Chemistry, Biology, Neuroscience, Immunology & Infection, and Medicine.

8:00 am: Arrive at work and check email. Identify urgent priorities: one selector wants to set up trial access to a database and another has requested a price quote for a journal. Reach out to the vendors and let the selectors know we're on it! 

10:00 am: Meet with the E-Resources team and discuss student work, ongoing projects, access issues, Alma procedures, and short- and long-term goals. 

11:00 am: Process renewals and invoices. Check prices to make sure they’re within our thresholds, process the invoice in Alma, and upload the document to SharePoint for our Accounting team to review. 

1:00 pm: Access issue! One of our e-resources platforms is down, and five people have reported it through er-help or Grover. Troubleshoot the issue and ask the team to test to see if they have the same result. If the issue is Alma related, work with FLVC or Ex Libris staff to resolve it – otherwise, reach out to the vendor and ask them to reinstate our access. Update the access issue banner on the E-Resources website.  

2:00 pm: Attend a committee meeting. The E-Resources Specialists are involved in several library-wide committees, including the Assessment Advisory Committee, the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice (DEIJ) Committee, and the Grants Management Committee. 

3:00 pm: Work on a long-term project. E-Resource Specialist projects can include gathering usage statistics and entering the numbers into our trackers, activating resources in Alma, or re-linking order lines to newly activated resources from the Alma Community Zone, among many others. 

4:00 pm: Research topics and trends relevant to e-resources and acquisitions in academic libraries, such as digital privacy, web and e-resource accessibility, licensing standards, or DEIJ.

• Jewish Studies Portal (DeGruyter)
  Find all Portal databases at a glance, from the Klemperer diaries to scientific reference works on the subject of Antisemitism.  Databases include German-Jewish History, Religion, and Antisemitism and Holocaust. 

  USC Shoah Foundation Visual History Archive
  The Visual History Archive® is the Foundations’s collection of audiovisual interviews with witnesses and survivors of the Holocaust and other genocides. It is the reason USC Shoah Foundation was originally founded and continues to be the basis for its educational and scholarly programs today.

  Vivvix
  Formerly Ad$pender). Advertising expenditure data for company brands by media outlets over a rolling five year period. Includes television (cable, spot, syndication, Hispanic), radio (national, spot, local), magazines (consumer, business to business, local, Sunday), newspapers (national, local, Hispanic), internet, outdoor.
